St. Bonaventure 63, No. 14 George Washington 60
OLEAN, N.Y. — Dana Mitchell and Katelyn Murray scored 14 points each to help the Bonnies (17-9, 5-6 A-10) beat the Colonials (20-4, 8-2) yesterday for their first victory ever over a ranked opponent.
Cara Gustafson scored the final three points for St. Bonaventure to seal the victory and end a 26-game losing streak to George Washington. St. Bonaventure entered the game 1-31 against its conference rival, with the Bonnies’ only win, a 58-56 victory at Olean, coming on Feb. 23, 1989.
The victory set a new single-season school record for St. Bonaventure.
American 73, Colgate 46
The Eagles (13-12, 7-3 Patriot) pulled into a three-way tie for first place in the Patriot League, getting 14 points from Talicia Jackson in a rout of the Red Raiders (1-24, 0-10) at Bender Arena.
With Army’s loss to Lehigh, American is tied with Army and Holy Cross.
Howard 91, Winston-Salem St. 64
Tamaya Daniels came off the bench to score 21 points to lead the Bison (3-20) to a win over the Rams (2-20) at Burr Gymnasium.
Howard started the second half with a 21-4 run to take a 61-43 lead.
Scranton 59, Catholic 54
Kathleen Daly and Michelle Fabio scored 10 points each to help the Royals (17-5, 11-1 Landmark) rally past the Cardinals (9-14, 4-8) at DuFour Center to secure the top seed for the conference tournament.
Catholic, which led by as many as nine points in the first half, got a game-high 22 points from Brianna Peterson.
