Parkwood Homes is building 23 live/work town homes with retail and living space at the Villages of Urbana near Frederick. Restaurants and shops are located within the community, which has been designed as a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood. Each live/work home in this Frederick County community will include a brick front with front and rear awnings and double-hung windows with integral grills and removable screens.

Inside, each live/work home has a separate gas heat and electric air conditioning system for each level with a programmable thermostat, along with a space heater in the unfinished basement. Standard features include high-tech wiring, six-panel doors, crown moldings on the first level, ceramic tile wall tile in the upstairs bath and a fully equipped kitchen.

Each 24-by-38-foot building has about 2,700 finished square feet on three levels, with base prices from the upper $700,000s to the low $800,000s depending on the facade style. Base prices per foot are about $275 to $300. Homeowner association fees are about $200 per month.

The live/work homes feature office or retail space on the first floor. The second floor has three offices and a reception area. The third-floor living space includes two entrances. The carpeted living area is open to the kitchen and dining area. Nearby are a utility closet, a coat closet and a closet with an optional washer and dryer. At the back of this level are the bedroom, which has a standard closet, a linen closet and a full bath accessible from the hall and the bedroom.
