WYTHEVILLE, Va. (AP) — Police in Wytheville said a 9-year-old boy fell to an age-old temptation while waiting for his school bus Monday morning in the bone-chilling cold.

He touched a metal post with his tongue. And his tongue stuck.

The Roanoke Times reported yesterday that a police officer talked to the boy while the boy’s father got some warm water.

According to the news-paper, the conversation went like this:

“Are you OK?”

“Uh-uh.”

“Have you learned anything?”

“Uh-huh.”

“Are you going to do this again?”

“Uh-uh.”

The boy’s father applied the warm water and set his son free — unharmed.
