FORSBERG'S FEET

Philadelphia center Peter Forsberg returned after missing five games with foot problems. He spent several days with bio-mechanical physicians at Temple University Hospital having his deformed right foot analyzed. He took the results to Montreal's Bauer skate company, which built a new skating platform for the star. The center left the game early with a concussion, continuing his run of bad luck.

SEEN AND HEARD

The rebuilding has started. The Flyers acquired defenseman Alexei Zhitnik, 34, from the New York Islanders for defenseman Freddy Meyer IV and a draft pick. The Flyers have a fistful of injuries and some older defensemen who can't play well in the "new" NHL. Flyers defenseman Mike Rathje is on long-term disability, clearing his $3.5 million from the salary cap and freeing it for Zhitnik.

BY THE NUMBERS

$1,500 Donated, at least, in addition to more than 1,000 toys to the Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots drive.
