Excellent article, Mr. Gaffney. What now remains is how the Obama campaign will explain this away, and even whether this new development will be debated or even be given coverage in the MSM. The question has always been: Do all these Muslim groups in this country want to follow the U.S. Constitution, or the Shariah? It has still not been effectively answered, nor debated.

This is one of the most racist articles I have ever read. Our country is supposed to pride itself in diversity and being a cultural melting pot. You don't have to be an evangelical christian to be in public office. The USA was founded so that people could avoid religious persecution. When church and state are not separated, you are ripping the constitution to shreds. Without a constitution that guarantees freedom, you have a theocracy like Saudi Arabia. Why do you hate the freedoms of our country so much?

Ethnic politics is a requirement in the US, even though it can be ugly (e.g. IRA support in Boston in the 60's and 70's). Islam is a religion that is growing in the US. Where there are votes, there are rear ends to be kissed. Of course, some rear ends are more politically acceptable than others.

"... the Islamic creed of his father and youth." Please, really? He was never a Muslim, so this is just a lie to make is seem like Obama has an affinity with Islam, and might be covert. You can see why the campaign would consider it important that they put to rest insistent rumors when you insist on spreading them.

Barak Hussein Obama was born to a muslim father. In Islam, religion is passed via the father. This is similar to judiasm. When a child is born of a jewish mother, the child is a jew. Obama is a Muslim. He may worship in a Black Theology church, but that doesn't change the fact he was born to a muslim father, and is a muslim.

Re. comment by 'vaf' Judaism is a belief followed by most of a certain racial group but you can still be a secular Jew. Islam is a religion that can be followed by anyone irrespective of race so the fact that Obama's father was a Muslim does not make him a Muslim.

It's only the Con fools who wallow in the filth of talk radio believe Sen. Obama is muslim. These type of articles are shallow transparent attempts to get Sen. Obama defending himself against the Cons typical slanderous nonsense. These Cons amoral and self centereds. What drivel designed for weak minded fools on the Con right.

Obama the clown can fool members of the democratic party any time he wants. That's a simple, easy and pulled often trick. His problem is, when looking for votes from outside that disgraceful party, most of the people want facts, the truth and a common sense approach to problem solving. He repeatedly fails in every area.

It may disappoint people to understand and acknowledge that Barak Obama is a muslim simply because of his father. He was a muslim at the time of conception and he is a muslim now. He and anyone that supports him can deny it and state that he is a christian all they want, but the truth is a simple one. His father was muslim and because of this fact, so is he. My father was methodist, my mother was southern baptist...this makes me methodist. If Obama's father was jewish and his mother muslim he then would be considered jewish simply because of his father. According to another commentor below, this is a racist article...I don't believe that. This has nothing to do with race, if it did, then you would object because he is black not muslim. This has to do with the separation of race and politics. In countries like Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran and so on, these countries base their governments on what is written in the koran, using religion to run the government...this is where the scare tactics come from and are promoted. Thankfully, Americans don't do that, and our forefathers specifically made this so with the separation of church and state. If anyone wants to argue this point just remember that England at one time was ruled because of what the Vatican (pope) stated would please god. And people believed it...but at that point, did they have a choice? NO. They don't have too many choices in the middle east and it looks like muslims of the middle east want to take that choice away in the "west". Let them know that we are proud of what we have built in this country, we have fought and died for what we have in this country and we will not be dictated to by saudi arabia or any one else. If you like Mr. Obama's position on race and religion in America and other countries, then you should vote for him. If you are confused or doubt by Mr. Obama's position don't vote for him, it is just that simple. But personally, I would not vote for a person based on their religion...that really doesn't tell me much about them.

Afraid your incorrect notehawksr. In Judiasm the mother determines whether the child is Jewish or not. This is simple biology. You always know who the mother is even if you can't tell who is the father.

Obama's dance around this subject is guided by the Democrat advisors Obama has in his campaign. They think they have the Muslims figured out and that they are more demanding than the others the Democrats have lied to over the decades, but I'll tell you one thing, the jihad against America will continue regardless of who is in the White House. Look what happened on 9-11. The terrorists did not stop and rethink about what they were about to do like the Iranians did after Reagan was elected. The Iranians knew that Reagan wouldn't take any gruff off a bunch of Arabs (I don't care what they call themselves, their leniage is Arab), and would bomb them. No such fear on the part of the terrorists that went ahead with their plans, as they have now. So let McCain or Obama get into office. The terrorist have nothing to loose and everything to gain for the furthering of Islam's world domination. Millions will die no matter who is in the White House just like they did on 9-11. Bin Laden knows that McCain is a liberal and may be advised by the liberals McCain will bring into his administration who've been his buddies for years. McCain throws Graham under the bus for saying Americans are a bunch of whinners, you think he'll tolerate anyone stirring up trouble with the Muslims in the U.S.. He's in the same mind that Bush is, McCain thinks that all the terrorists are in Iraq and are not here. These organizations that Obama has in his club are using the Democrats for leverage in getting our laws changed in their favor. These Islamist organizations need to be raided by the FBI and everyone arrested, interrogated, and deported so fast it would make their heads spin.

libraryguy, this isn't just about mom and pop. Obama was enrolled in school in Hawaii at age 6 (I believe) and the enrollment does list him as being a muslim. It's public record. But I don't think that means much at that age and Rev. Wright sure doesn't appear to be Muslim. Obama should have the guts to confront this head on and I am not talking about him being a muslim or not. He should say what Bush and McCain have said and continue to say, which basically is that there is nothing wrong with Muslims. The problem is with fanatic Islamic extremists. The key aspect of America is not what religion any of one of us practices but the tolerance we show to those who don't practice that same religion. Obama should not have disrespected those two Muslim women when they were hustled out of sight. That was just plain sad and shows a complete lack of character for one who purports to "unite" us all and wants to be President.

geori said, This is one of the most racist articles I have ever read. Our country is supposed to pride itself in diversity and being a cultural melting pot. When church and state are not separated, you are ripping the constitution to shreds. Without a constitution that guarantees freedom, you have a theocracy like Saudi Arabia. Why do you hate the freedoms of our country so much? Please explain to me, what race is Islam? Too much diversity just does not work and just what is it about Islam that you like so much? The death to non-believers part, the wife beating part? Should we allow Muslims freedom of religion? Because if we do we have to shred the Constitution because there is NO separation of Church and State under Islam. Muslims have a different set of beliefs then non-Muslims and they should never be voted for. It is very telling that you do not comment on the fact that the group who is supposed to lead the prayer service is an arm of a known terrorist group. Why is that?
