Voters deserve what the get from the people they elect. Give a politician a blank check and he/she will feel free to spend and spend. Raising taxes is easier than cutting services.

Democrats spending money they don't have?! Say it isn't so. Not that Republicans are that much better. There's a lot of attention on the Presidential race right now, but the bigger problems are the legislative branches, both at the state AND federal level. All tax-and-spenders have to go, now! What I can't believe is that with VA and MD's extortionist toll taxes (tolls are taxes, make no mistake) they still can't seem to fund transportation projects?! VA's Greenway toll alone $8 round trip, and I'd estimate there are a 100k cars using it every work day. MD has 95 and Bay Bridge tolls that are completely ridiculous too. So MD and VA Democrats: Where is all that money?

When the government gets involved with money you can be sure there is going to be corruption and skimming off at every level. If not, and at best, there is all that bureaucracy that needs to be funded. Government by its very nature IS WASTE. It becomes a shadow business, producing nothing, contributing nothing, and taking everything. You cannot raise money through tolls because it is just not cost-effective.

Pendamon, the VA Greenway tolls alone raise at least $100 million a year. Operating expenses cannot be more than a third of that, even conservatively. That's the very definition of cost-effective.

So, where is all that money, wvobiwan? That's my point. $100 million, you say? Then I say Virginia must be flush with cash. So, where's the problem? I guarantee you, if the governor is a Democrat, there is patronage going on. I guarantee you there is wasteful spending. I guarantee you they have funded programs without having any funds. That's wrong. As Ross Perot once said, in his inimitable way, "You gotta make more than you spend!" In Virginia, you could add to that "...and/or waste".
