The best solutions still come through private industry, rather than government, even in cases when it appears something went wrong.
The job assignment given to Blackwater was and is something that's impossible to get 100% right all the time. Not with its ultra-high standard of performance in security operations for its clients. Errors will be made, unfortunately, because they are human. But, this does not excuse slaughter of innocent civilians.
Both Iraq and America have lost many precious souls in pursuit of liberty. Blackwater has lost many of its very dedicated people. There is no doubting the depth of loss on both sides. But, we also, as two sovereign countries, know that liberty, with its high price, is worth the cost. Our best efforts at reparations, where clearly warranted, should be advanced. This is not the time to remove what is otherwise working very hard and succeeding very well.
Wasn't it Valerie Plames's husband that went to Africa and came back and wrote a report that no evidence existed that Sadam H. had ever tried to procure yellow cake? And that therefore George Bush lied? Great work again
"550 metric tons of yellow cake"? Why wasn't this presented by the media? 140 possible nuclear warheads? No evidence of yellow cake. Scooter Libby convicted on a non-crime. Here we go again. The fourth estate has become the fifth column.
Those who refuse to acknowledge this story admit their investment in the lie that the Administration lied! How many political careers were built on the phony protest that Bush had fabricated the issue of WMD's? Who is holding the charlitans accountable?
This yellowcake was no "discovery" and is no smoking gun, as I suspect the Mr. Andress knows full well. It was material from a couple of bombed reactors (1981 and 1991) and was cataloged long ago by U.N. inspectors.
Just last week, Mr. Bush lamented the intelligence failure regarding WMDs in Iraq. Gee, if this 550 tons of yellowcake had anything at all to do with the whole WMD issue, don't you think the president might have mentioned it somewhere along the line?
The truth that's missing from Mr. Andress' disingenuous commentary can be found at Snopes:

But then, learning the truth isn't nearly as fun as feeling victimized by the wicked mainstream media, is it?
