According to a report by Carnegie Mellon University's Green Design Institute, online shoppers also cut their carbon-dioxide emissions by 35 percent.

Or carry heavy loads from the store to the car to the post office to get holiday gifts to far-flung friends and family on time. Instead, after shopping around online for free shipping, just send the gift directly to the recipient.
