How did you get started in real estate? I started showing homes for a property management company in Blacksburg, Va., while in college. I would show homes to other students looking to rent for the following school year. It was great to be out of the office, helping people find properties to live in and meeting new people.
How long have you been with the current company? Eight years

What is your area of specialty? Almost all of my business is by referral, so I specialize in my clients’ needs and goals rather than one particular neighborhood. This is a very rewarding way to do business.
Highest-priced home sold: $1,925,000
Most memorable house: I had the opportunity to work on a new home from the beginning, from acquiring the lot, to tearing the old house down, designing the new home, working with the surveyor, architect, builder, designer, and seeing the entire process through. It took over a year and the finished product was fantastic. That was a great learning experience for me and one I will never forget.
Your worst experience buying or selling a house: I showed up to take a seller client of mine to closing and she had decided she did not want to move! We had spoken every day and she had told me she was packing up and getting things done. It was a shock that nothing was packed and she was sitting on the couch like it was no big deal. The buyers and their agent were rightfully quite upset. We got it all worked out over a few days, but it was very stressful.
