Pop star Taylor Swift is going back to her country roots to write an original song for Pixar’s “Toy Story 5,” news outlets report.
The song “I Knew It, I Knew You” will be released Friday, and is connected to the animated film’s cowgirl character, Jessie. It is Ms. Swift’s first release of new music since last year’s “The Life of a Showgirl” album.
The “Antihero” singer said on Instagram that she has loved the franchise since she was 5 and wrote the song immediately after attending an early screening of the new film.
Before her announcement, “Toy Story” billboards had teased the release along with a countdown timer on Ms. Swift’s official website.
Before the announcement, billboards and Ms. Swift’s official website featured multiple signs including “Toy Story” themed billboards with the initials “TS,” followed by a countdown timer on Ms. Swift’s official website.
“Toy Story 5” hits theaters June 19, starring Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Tom Hanks as Woody and Joan Cusack as Jessie. The old toys must contend with Lilypad, a frog-shaped tablet voiced by Greta Lee that has its own ideas about what’s best for their kid, Bonnie.
