The Internet is working fine, leave it alone! Regulation means more chances for the pols to squash innovation in favor of $ kickbacks from favored companies.

I beg to differ with haraldrambacher! PARENTS need to moniter their children, the government is not invited into my house. Socialism is not wanted here! The government can't control themselves, their greed, lust, egos, or power trips! Get out of my house, my body, my religious beliefs and leave my money alone!

The FCC /Government would be gaining some controll of controll our freedom to speak and communicate and I say no! If people are worried about what their childern might come in contact with they shoud try parental supervision. Government is the poorest of all choices to replace parenting and it does not take a village it takes a parent!

There is nothing wrong with the plan as presented. However, this may just open the door for many more restrictions which will have a negative effect. Once the government gets overly involved, look out!

Parents that are too stupid to install and operate internet filters to protect their children should have taken this short coming in to account before having children. Just like the idiot whose child is crying in a $100 a plate restaurant that lacks the common decency to put down the fork and carry the noise maker outside.

How could any reasonable person vote "yes," to this question. As poor and biased as most are, should we also invite the Feds to monitor the newspapers? Should the Feds install a clerk in the local library to grant permission for the books we desire to read? Have you "yes voters" even considered what the implications are to a Federally-monitored internet? Frankly you should be more concerned about what your children's teachers are teaching. It is your responsibility to properly raise your own child. Do not expect, or leave it to any government to control your access to information. If you do you will find that eventually, you will have no access at all.

Looks like the "vote-bots" have been at this one.... 1198 pro, 709 con, and only 8 comments?

To allow the government more control is madness. They want to have total control of our lives and speech like the fairness doctrine.

After reading the WT article, I voted "no". "Net neutrality" sounds like a laudible goal ---- one argument is that, without the FCC enforcing it, certain ISPs could effectively censor or slow down certain web sites, in effect imposing their own brand of censorship or internet roadblocking. However, I think that the Internet has grown too big and too competitive for ISPs to be able to successfully pull that off for very long. If AOL tries it, for example, other ISPs will be able to tout their "internet freedom" as a selling point for consumers similar to the way that Southwest Airlines promotes the fact that it does not charge baggage fees while the old dinosaur legacy do. In short, I think that the Internet will take care of itself without government meddling. Moreover, I think that the FCC's legal justification for internet regulation is weak. The ISP's networks are their property --- they are not public domain like the radio spectrum is; therefore, I do not think the FCC has any legal basis to regulate the Internet. That is a big deal that this fact be recognized and respected ---- right now, we have a bloated, grasping Federal Government that is bent on aggrandizing and intruding into every segment of American life. It is necessary that the Federal Government be restrained, have its powers reduced, and have its size and roles and missions cut back.

the internet is not just the United States. The FCC has no business on any regulations for the net. As for those who can't monitor their children's activities, did you expect the government and the rest of us to raise your kids?
