The promise of casinos


Before voters approved casino gambling in 1976, Atlantic City was a poor city struggling with crime, drugs and lack of jobs. Today, it has the casinos, but the other problems persist.

N.J. towns going green


Cherry Hill, N.J., with its vast housing developments and miles of shopping centers lining every thoroughfare, was not designed to go easy on the Earth, but that isn't stopping local officials from going green.
