Is this really the American League, where teams for years have largely eschewed subtlety, nuance — and, yes, pitching — in favor of generally trying to outbludgeon the opposition?

Too often these days, the media don't react, they overreact. What will be the next "scandal," the next hot-air balloon the folks in the news gathering business foist upon their customers, all in the name of public service ... and profit?
