17 Missed 3-point shots for the Wizards, who made just five of 22. Gilbert Arenas was a miserable two of 12 from behind the arc.

KEY PLAY

With the score 96-96, Hornets guard Dan Dickau tried to dribble past Gilbert Arenas but was fouled by Wizards center Brendan Haywood with 4.5 seconds left. Dickau’s two free throws were the winning points.

SEEN AND HEARD

RAMOS BACK: The Wizards activated 7-foot-3 rookie center Peter John Ramos and placed forward Samaki Walker on the injured list with a lower back strain. Ramos, on the injured list with right shoulder tendinitis, played in three games this season. Walker has played in six games, averaging 1.7 points and 1.3 rebounds.

KEEPING IT DOWN: It was only the second time in 19 games this season that the Wizards lost when their opponent failed to score 100 points.

LIGHTING IT UP: Gilbert Arenas has scored 30 or more points 15 times this season. He had 34 points last night. Antawn Jamison, who had 30 points and 12 rebounds, has 20 double-doubles this season in 51 games.
