White House boosts stimulus comments -- now 10 times longer

I blogged Friday night about the White House posting the $787 billion stimulus plan online for public comment - with a 500 character limit.

The short limit (less than 4 "Tweets" on Twitter) drew criticism online, as did the 500 character limit for the WhiteHouse.gov "contact us" page that went live when President Obama took office.

Some White House folks sniffed that it wasn't too little space, but apparently someone agrees.

Saturday night I checked the site and they now allow for 5,000 characters. That's 10 times the original space limit, and seems a lot more reasonable for a bill that's more than 1,000 pages.

Sorry folks, the 500 character Haiku contest I had planned to sponsor is now canceled.

fauxpas

Gloating seems out of line. A little praise to a new government that listens, is flexible & willing to "CHANGE" seems much more fitting. If you have that much to say though, you should send it to your representative. Especially if you're unhappy. Because, in case you haven't noticed the President is a little busy.

"A little praise to a new government that listens, is flexible & willing to "CHANGE" seems much more fitting. " But they don't listen ("ignore Rush", Obama's own words), they aren't flexible, and they are unwilling to compromise, let alone change, so what praise do they really deserve?
