Nylander's time with Caps could be over

The Caps just finished up practice here at Kettler, and there is plenty going on. Bruce Boudreau said he doesn't expect Michael Nylander to rejoin the team or practice with them again this season, even though he cleared waivers today.

"We just thought it wasn't a good fit," Boudreau said. "Without going into it too much, we just didn't think this year was a good fit for Mike [Nylander]. We're hoping ... if he gets picked up that's great for him and if not, we'll deal with that at 12:08 [NOTE: Boudreau spoke before Nylander cleared]."

When asked if Nylander is going to practice tomorrow or the next day or the next day, Boudreau said "I don't think so."

Alex Ovechkin told Boudreau he feels better this morning when he was briefly on the ice with the team. Boudreau said he doesn't expect Ovechkin to play Wednesday, but he isn't going to rule him out for the weekend.

"When they say they feel better, I don't know how much "better" is," Boudreau said. "I guess we'll see when he starts working out."

Ovechkin is also going to go back on the ice in a bit -- but the Caps wanted the ice to be resurfaced so he's got a better sheet to skate on.

"Yes, he gets special ice," Boudreau said. "He pretty well gets what he wants."

Mike Green said he expects to play Wednesday and it was the hit on Rostislav Olesz that gave him "a bruise that needed a couple of days." Boudreau said Jeff Schultz is expected to skate tomorow at practice.

Alexander Semin left practice early, but Boudreau said he was just "sore" and is expected to be on the ice tomorrow.

Boyd Gordon also went through his first full practice with the team since he's had his current back problems.
