Semin missing for Caps (UPDATED)

By Corey Masisak on Oct. 21, 2009 into In The Room

Alexander Semin is not on the ice for the second time in three days. Bruce Boudreau said he was missing on Monday because he was sick, but he practiced yesterday.

Boyd Gordon is also missing this morning. If Gordon can't play, either Michael Nylander would have to play or the Caps will have to recall someone (Keith Aucoin would be a favorite). If Semin can't go, then it is possible two forwards will be recalled.

Here's how they look on the ice:

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Knuble

Laich-Morrison-Fehr

Laing-Steckel-Bradley

Fleischmann-Nylander-Clark

Morrisonn-Green

Poti-Jurcina

Schultz-Pothier

Sloan-Erskine

UPDATE: Bruce Boudreau said Alexander Semin is "touch and go" for tomorrow's game because of an illness and Boyd Gordon is out but will travel with the team.

Boudreau said Michael Nylander will not play in place of either of them, and the Caps will recall two forwards from Hershey if necessary.

The coach also said Jose Theodore is "ready to go" after missing Saturday's game with a back injury. He didn't commit to a starter in net for tomorrow night, but Theodore will at least be on the bench as the backup if he isn't starting.

Boudreau also said defenseman John Erskine will be travelling with the team, but did not say if the rugged defenseman would return from a hand injury tomorrow or not.

Hey Corey! Do you have anything at all on the motivation for sending Nylander to Grand Rapids for a conditioning stint? I'm really getting tired of the sniping over on Capitals Insider, so I figured I'd pop on over here and see if I could get something sane. Also - please let the Times know that they need to fix whatever content is on this site that requires a version of Internet Explorer greater than IE6. I cannot upgrade at work, so I can't follow your blog. I don't have access to Twitter at work; it's blocked, and I can't have my cellphone. Whatever weird content is on here that requires IE8 needs to go. COOL = USABLE, and this ain't usable. :-(

Totally agree.......can't access at work. Don't have as much time at home as I would like (not that I have a ton of time at work).
