Gun owners not happy with President's pick for Attorney General

John Velleco, the director of Federal Affairs for the Gun Owners of America (GOA), a national gun lobby with over 300,000 members, says President Barack Obama could not possibly have picked a worse Attorney General than Eric Holder.

"Eric Holder has a long history of anti-Second Amendment activism, going back to the days when he was the go-to guy for gun control in the Clinton administration," says Velleco.

The GOA has been observing Mr. Holder for some time and says his record includes support of a 3-day waiting period for handgun purchases, handgun rationing of one gun per month, renewing the semi-automatic gun ban, gun owner registration and licensing, and much more.

But what upsets every gun owner in the U.S. is that Mr. Holder signed on to a brief before the Supreme Court that argued that the Second Amendment does not protect an individual's right to own a firearm.

Should Americans want an Attorney General whose beliefs are so skewed that he thinks the Second Amendment of the Constitution, the right to keep and bear arms, does not apply to law-abiding citizens? All this after the Supreme Court only recently affirmed that basic right.

Wyoming Senator John Barrasso isn’t happy with the President’s choice of Mr. Holder.

"Given Holder's career of attacks on the Second Amendment, his nomination continues to be of great concern to me," he said. "I am not convinced his philosophy on the Second Amendment is acceptable to the people of Wyoming and gun owners across the United States."

So what can be done when the man who is the highest law enforcement officer in the land seems to be against protecting the individual's right to own a firearm?

Sen. Barrasso said he will definitely vote against Eric Holder.

"Agendas and intentions can change quickly," Sen. Barrasso wrote in the Casper Star-Tribune. "Our nation's highest law enforcement officer must be committed to protecting and defending our individual rights to keep and bear arms. I intend to vote no on the nomination of Eric Holder. "

I don't know who to write and express my views to anymore because the Congressmen/women from Texas are proving to be self serving. Bottom line, this guy is NOT acceptable but will most likely be confirmed just like the rest of the crooks and liars Obama nominated for his cabinet.

Get ready for an all-out assault on us American gun owners. The Second Amendment is nothing but a nuisance to the current Administration, from Obama to Biden to Holder. They are totally against it and will do anything to have it erased from the list of Constitutional Amendments.
