Small-town residents boo media with McCain

CEDARBURG, Wisc. -- Hundreds of angry people in this small town outside Milwaukee taunted reporters and TV crews traveling with Sen. John McCain on Friday, chanting "Be fair!" and pointing fingers at a pack of journalists as they booed loudly.

On the first leg of the "McCain Street USA" tour -- which will take the Republican presidential nominee and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, to small towns across the heartland -- the 30 or so reporters and crew were walking back to their buses to join the McCain motorcade when hundreds of townspeople started yelling.

"Stop lying! You are all liars! Tell the truth!" one woman yelled from the front of the pack.

The crowd was not menacing or threatening, but was clearly angry.

"You're telling lies! Stop the lies!" one man yelled. Asked why the crowd was so angry, Linda J. Green of Mequon, Wisc., said: "I'm thinking the press is very biased."

"I think the press is very liberal and very slanted against the McCain-Palin ticket. Would you ask a man if his kids were being taken care of while he's out campaigning?"

She said the coverage of Mrs. Palin is flat-out sexist. "The media has called her a sexy librarian look. Would you say that Obama is a sexy Will Smith look? They called her Tina Fey's sister, only sexier. I think you're being very sexist."

Another woman questioned local television coverage, which differed for the Republican and Democratic party conventions, she said.

"Why did the networks not carry the Republican convention, when they carried the Democratic convention?" she asked. "They do it because they're liberal," a man chimed in.

The scene was reminiscent of one that occurred spontaneously at the RNC, when Mrs. Palin accused political pundits and columnists of misinformation. With thousands of red-meat Republicans in the huge Xcel Center in Minneapolis, the crowd turned ugly. Hundreds began pointing at a group of reporters and booing -- some chanted "CNN!" while others yelled "MSNBC!"

The "media" has only one word that defines them and that is credibility. They have finally awaken a large segment of the population's eyes to the fact that, in many cases, the "media" does not have credibility nor does it seem to even care about the truth. What we have today are "Viewpapers" that put their political biases on the front page and act like the reader is to stupid to notice. I believe that many in the "media" have forgotten what their primary job entails. That is to report the facts to the best of their ability and to ensure that they present both side. I not sure how we got a "media" that believes that they decide who, what, where, when and how on the issues of the day and its readers are only suppose to follow their lead. NO! You report and we the citizens of this country make those decisions. Who the Hell do you think you are? Frankly, none of those in the "media" are smarter, better informed or more qualified to tell people how they should think or vote than large sections of their dwindling readership. What the "media" needs to do if it really desires to gain some credibility is to re-evaluate its role in a free society and recognize that we the people make the decisions and you report as accurately as is possible, given the vagaries of the written word, so that we might be better informed.

Journalism is d-e-a-d. It is simply a propaganda machine for the leftists in America. Fortunately, the MSM is dying. They have forgotten what sells: the truth. The Internet is making it easier to get all kinds of viewpoints and perspectives and allowing people to make their own decisions, less-colored by the biased alphabets. See: NYT stock price (ka-boom).

Considering the news media members are really Democrat operatives, booing them at a Republican event is certainly appropriate.

Most of the media is citing the AP attendance numbers of 1,000 people, when in fact the true numbers from the Wisconsin State patrol, who organized security for the event says there were 12,000 inside the gates, but the total including those outside of the controlled area was between 20,000 and 30,000. All local Milwaukee area media reports parrot the AP numbers, but one TV reporter confirmed the State Patrol numbers, but even that station later revised it to the AP "standard" of about 1,000. We have the video's posted: http://badgerblogger.com/?p=7476

Unfortunately, the largest newspaper in Alaska falls right in with the liberal bias journalistic, ilks. Most people in Alaska loath the Anchorage Daily News as wells as our largest TV news station, like CNN, MSNBC, New York Times etc, they have no connection or credibility with mainstream America. The silver lining in the cloud is, the more they beat up on Gov. Palin the more support she gains and the less trustworthy the media becomes. America is experiencing why Sarah Palin is loved by so many Alaskans

Couldn't access the video mentioned by BB, but found more accurate (not yet edited perhaps) reporting at http://flickr.com/photos/stoneandcedar/sets/72157607126392658/. Mentions the 10,000+, the line outside the gate, etc., and includes lots of thumbnails. Hope it's still there!

It is funny how people feel that the media is unfair when their favorite candidate is being attacked. This woman just popped on the scene last week, we know nothing about her and are just supposed to say yeah she is a great candidate. The media is not being biased they are just doing there job. Trying to find out who this woman is has been difficult for some reason. I know all about how the media is supposed to be fair and balanced because I have a degree in journalism and it didn't take me going to 5 different schools in 6 years to get it. Maybe if she answered questions and spoke to the people, things wouldn't be made up (which I highly doubt)

NYCGirl- Apparently your journalism degree isn't doing you much good, as you claim it's hard to find info on Gov Palin...there have been more interviews with people she works with or has worked with in the past 3 days than we've seen from Obama in 18 months. By the way, they all highly recommend her. And, apparently you missed the class when they covered the fact that spotlighting the Gov's 17 yr old daughter has nothing to do with "finding out who this woman is". And, if you had bothered to watch the first night of Greta Van Susteren's bio on Gov Palin, you would have found out that one reason Gov Palin had a hard time finishing college was because on her father's teacher's salary, it was a little tough to keep 4 kids in college FT for 4 years straight each. Hence the beauty pageants for scholarship money. Guess that wasn't an issue for your family, so be grateful and stop judging others. If you are truly interested in learning more about Gov Palin (which I highly doubt), here's a list of 62 myths about her so you can educate yourself: http://explorations.chasrmartin.com/2008/09/06/palin-rumors/

It is time to hold news publishers feet to the fire. News should not be fabricated, twisted, created, biased, et al. Just the documented facts, please. The American reading and thinking population is waking up, getting angry, more intelligent than journalists and editors think while the readership of past top news organizations are losing subscribers to other sources of "true news." It isn't rocket science. The American people are learning to read into the bias coming from the AP, Reuters, etc.

I am thrilled people are peacefully confronting the mainstream-media and Hollywood. It is about time. The media stopped reporting the facts years ago. They are nothing more then an arm of the Marxists trying to take over our country. The MSM doesn't even realize that if the left-wing Marxist do get control of the country, the media is the first to be purged. In my opinion, many in the MSM are guilty of treason. They are actively trying to destroy America with their lies and misinformation. I hope more people with peacefully confront the MSM and Hollywood at every opportunity. America is fed-up. We are sick-and-tired of having our wonderful country run down by a group of know-nothing ingrates. It is about time the MSM starts answering to the people. It is about time the MSM and Hollywood get the same anal exam they are giving to Sarah Palin ..but refuses to give Obama. This presidential election is not simply about the POTUS. It is about STANDING UP and FIGHTING for the preservation of America. If the left gets control of this country we will look like the Soviet Block during the Cold War. They are already keeping information from the people, and trying to silence anyone that disagrees with them. STAND UP to the MSM and Hollywood! This is an all out battle for America. If a media organization does not report the facts and the truth...then boycott them...call them on the phone....clog up their operations. Just like they are trying to inhibits a free society from making fully informed decisions. Media, you better understand. The majority of the American people are mad as h**l....and WE ARE NOT going to take anymore!!
