King of the Gladiators

I watched Ben Hur on Christmas Day on Turner Classic Movies. Love the film, even the intermission they showed as well, just like the days of the great movie theater palaces. The chariot race (that would give horse racing a boost) is still one of the most remarkable scenes ever filmed.

Charlton Heston was one tough guy, and it made me wonder who would win in a fight among Roman gladiator type movies?

What about Ben Hur vs. Spartacus? Or Maximus, from Gladiator?

Here's my Roman gladiator battle royal: Ben Hur (Charlton Heston) Spartacus (Kirk Douglas) Maximus (Russell Crowe) from Gladiator Marcellus Gallio (Richard Burton) from The Robe. Marcus Vinicius (Robert Taylor) from Quo Vadis. I am going with Kirk Douglas in Spartacus -- a slave who led an uprising of slaves.

Curious about any of your choices.

I'm Spartacus.

Radio

I will be on The Sports Reporters on ESPN 980 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 4 to 7 p.m.
