Pro-lifers pray for Obama's conversion

UPDATE - 2:24 P.M. - The American Life League has clarified what they mean by "conversion."

"Conversion to the fullness of the Christian faith includes a defense of human life," e-mails spokeswoman Katie Walker.

-----

The American Life League, a pro-life organization headquartered in Stafford, Va, and closely affiliated with the Catholic faith, has sent out a baseball card to its mailing list asking people to pray for "the conversion of President Barack Obama."

The back of the card lists a "prayer to St. Paul."

"Let the power of St. Paul's intercession bring about the conversion of President Barack Obama to the fullness of your grace. Help the president to recognize the personhood of all human beings -- born and preborn," it says.

Turns out this idea has been around for a while. A website called ConvertObama.com, also run by pro-life Catholics, started up much earlier this year.

Obama, of course, considers himself converted already to Christianity. I've asked ALL, which has a membership of around 300,000, what specifically they hope the president is converted to, and I'll post that response when I get it.

How do people like this ever expect to be treated seriously? And if they can spend this much time, effort and money to do something irrational and irrelevant such as this, why can't and don't they spend more of their effort on pro-life education to those who are in those decision making situations?

I'm a conservative social Catholic too. But unless we have any specific proof to the contrary, all Christians should give the man the benefit of the doubt insofar as his already public profession of his Christian faith is concerned. Remember, Judge not as ye wouldn't want to be judged? But keep praying he changes on abortion, etc. YES, KEEP ON PRAYING!

Prayer changes things. I keep this card upside down on my table. It makes the prayer easier to say. Judge not his soul, but judge his actions. Be a fruit inspector, inspect what is on the end of his branches.
