Palinpalooza: Guv jokes she's keeping SNL writers employed

OMAHA, Neb. — Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin drew about 6,000 tonight at a rally here where she reprised the greatest hits against Barack Obama.

But she did have a great new line in defense of her series of awkward interviews with CBS' Katie Couric. She talked about her "less than successful interview" and the crowd booed in the direction of the press sitting near the riser for video cameras.

"I was just trying to give Tina Fey more material. Job security for Saturday Night Live," she said, to big laughs.

Palin repeated her mention of Bill Ayers, and blasted Obama for his comments about "bitter" Americans in rural areas.

"This is not a man who sees America as you and I do," she said of Obama. "We see America as the greatest force for good in this world."

Also worth noting, Palin aides played one of Obama's signature songs as the rally concluded: Brooks and Dunn's "Only in America."

Before the rally, Paul Schmitt was staffing a parking lot for $5 per car across the street from the Omaha Music Hall. He's an Obama supporter, and is wearing his feelings on his chest.

Schmitt told me he was heckled all day, especially by women. While he and I were chatting, two people ribbed him, one asking if he really worked at the parking lot or if it was some sort of joke.

He said one Palin fan pulling into the lot blurted out: "You're the only Obama supporter that believes in capitalism!"

Actually, that's not true.

A few minutes later, I spotted this woman selling t-shirts:

As the crowd mocked her, she said the shirt was to display both of her for-sale items.

"I'm a capitalist before I'm anything else," she said.

The Obama campaign said it would not organize a visibility event with supporters, instead choosing to do a big phone bank at the Omaha office.

But several protesters showed up anyway, causing with friction some motorists and with the Palin fans in a long line to get in the building.

Some heckled the Obama fans, and one group began singing church songs to drown out the protests.

Here's some video:

SHAME ON YOU Sarah Palin. This is appalling. You know better. An acquaintance does not equal a pal. Don't you have the guts to edit the script that is handed to you? I am so disappointed in you. You've sunk to a new low.

SNL does need someone to make up their skits about as the Hollywood writers are going on strike again. Since it is Racists to say anything about Obama they must have someone. However, the media loves to blast Palin anyway anyhow as their fear this woman.

Looks like American democrats just cannot stand a republican that comes accross like their candidates do. This is a form of social justice. I think it is high time democrats have to face a republican that functions on their level. Can't stand what you believe to be not fact, not true, then deal with it your way. Republicans have had to listen to pure language of deceit and evasion for years with not a one republican to forecefully refute the deception and lies of democrats. Now that Palin is operating in the same vain as democrat politicians you are what? Can't stand it? We need a hundred more of Palins. If you check her facts and insinuations and she is wrong than don't vote for her and the oldster. It's that simple; however, if you check what she asserts and she is correct, what will you do? I know what you'll do. You'll cast your fate to blind faith and go with Obama because you are programed; programed by the mass, popular media to hate Bush = republicans are bad. Yes, mass hsyteria generated by the mass media will get B.H. into the White House. Thank heaven for a savior like B.H. because no American born here is capable of leading us. A subconscious fear of Islam, oops! radical Islam has lead us to put somebody out front to make friends with our viscous ememies in hope that they will not cut off our heads instead of valiently wooping them and that means killing them off! But, words today like wisom, honor, gallantry, truth, loyalty, etc. are just no longer applicable to our crude, tattooed people here in America.

Jokes? She is a joke. Ms Hockey Mom and Joe six-pack. You know, wth her history of sociopathic flirty, cutesy ways, they refer to Palin in Alaska as a bimbo or MILF (stands for mothers I'd like to F***). With her expressed feelings of discrimination, she is no favorite of folks up there who have had to live through her administration. McCain admits a history of infidelity in marriage. It only figures he would pick a beauty queen. Think there's any connection there? or maybe he has turned his eye to that other white meat..his gay chief of staff. With all the things she is saying that make her look more silly and get her deeper in the hole, and the impacts on her family, I am surprised that she does not pull out.... but there again....with 5 kids including one born at a dangerous time in a woman's life to conceive, and the embarrasment she is causing McCain and her party, it is a wonder that she does not logically pull out of the race...but..there again..pulling out, when safe or appropriate, does not seem to be a concept that she has been able to grasp in her life in any way.

The only attack the left can wage against Sarah Palin is one that is bigoted, sexist, personal, hateful, and offensive. There needs to be some apologies made to the general public. The comments here are not fit for publication. If the same kind of attacks were made against Obama, it would be a scandal. I guess there are no legitimate points of criticism that can be leveled against her. Hmm. Not too bad I guess.

Unfortunately, and sadly, Pendamon, these comments are true. I was a republican all my voting life until "W". I could not vote for this obviously stupid individual. Now the party has outdone itself with the M&M team, the Maverick and the MILF. Emotions are high right now due to the destruction of our economy under the current administration. Bush had no problem spending focused time getting into the fray on "he sanktity of Marruge" issue but was asleep at the wheel on critical economic issues. Of course, people are upset now they are presenting a joke to replace him.

dantimis- sorry but monica lewinsky was pimped by clinton and now palin is being pimped by mccain. I see no difference in those 2 women. we don't like palin because everything that comes out of her mouth is poop. she should borrow a depends from mccain to wipe that poop from her mouth. she's a disgrace to regular, honest, hard working women.
