Revolt at the American Medical Association over health care bill endorsement

The American Medical Association House of Delegates drew up a resolution last night which would withdraw their support of the House health care bill. Members are likely to vote on whether or not to withdraw their support of the bill earlier in the week. This action is a result of members within the organization who revolted, when the AMA initially gave the the healthcare legislation its endorsement. President Obama touted the endorsement of the AMA and AARP on Thursday at the White House.

Procedural votes are happening today to attempt to have the resolution's vote placed on the agenda earlier in the week. The AMA's House of Delegates is the principal policy-making body of the American Medical Association.

Executive director David Cook of the Medical Association of Georgia  sent the Washington Times the latest copy of the resolution drawn up last night at the meeting and explained how the voting would work.:

"[A] vote to make Late Resolution 1006 an item of business at the meeting requires 2/3 vote as it was filed so close to the meeting.  That vote will occur this afternoon[Saturday].  If that vote fails, that resolution will not be made an item of business.  In the event the vote fails, we should be able to raise the issue.

If the vote to make the Late Resolution 1006 an item of business, the actual resolution will be voted on Monday."

The Corrupt "current& temporary" leadership of the AMA endorsed Obama's destruction of American Medicine because Obama promised them kickbacks in the form of ownership of medical billing codes. Few doctors actually support Obamacare but the AMA doesn't care about doctors and it simply sold its vote. Now the actual Membership is going to gut this endorsement as they should. Mr. Cook needs to and hopefully will go to jail.

AMA

The AMA's House of Delegates meeting brings together the nation's broadest, most inclusive representation of physicians and medical students. Delegates representing every state and specialty debate and vote on behalf of their peers. Many physician organizations have formally supported the House bills; others have different opinions. This shows us that physicians are engaged and passionate about health reform, and that's a good thing. We take our leadership at the center of the health debate as an honor and serious responsibility. Constructive engagement is crucial to getting health reform this year. The AMA will stay engaged to improve the final bill and achieve a better health-care system for patients and physicians.
