Trans-identifying men have won at least 2,293 gold medals participating in women’s and girls’ sports in the U.S., a new study from a conservative organization found.
The Concerned Women for Research compiled data from the organization He Cheated, which tracks male athletic wins in female sports.
The data showed males who identify as females have not only won the big haul of gold medals, but have also collected $501,498 in prize money from women in professional sports since the mid-1980s.
In all instances, the men pushed women down to second place, denying them championship medals and money, the organization said.
Examples include biological male Julia Arnold’s first-place win in women’s shot put at the June 2026 New York State Outdoor Track and Field Championships and Lilly Serrano’s first-place finish in the 400-meter event at the Greater Boston League Championships in May.
The study found men prevailing over women on dozens of sports teams, ranging from U.S. swimming, bowling, volleyball, and track and field to the Ladies Professional Golf Association.
Trans-identifying men have competed in more than 10,000 female sporting events, both amateur and professional.
Opponents say their participation displaces women, disrupts female teams and creates safety hazards.
Male trans athletes are cashing in on prize money and scholarships, the organization found.
In 2024 and 2025, biological male Redmond Sullivan earned $10,000 in scholarships for women’s fencing at Wagner College.
Disc golfer Natalie Ryan, a biological male, has won $86,269 in the Pro Open and Open categories of the PDGA United States Women’s Disc Golf since entering the women’s category in 2019.
The data was released as the GOP-led Senate Judiciary Committee convened a hearing to delve into eligibility and fairness in women’s sports.
The panel’s Democrats, many of whom support trans athlete participation in women’s sports, did not invite witnesses.
“Biological women should not be asked to accommodate men who, for reasons of identity or otherwise, choose to compete in the women’s category instead of the men’s or a co-ed category,” Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley, Iowa Republican, said as the hearing began. “Women were last to get the vote, participate in professions, serve on juries, get credit cards in their own names and so much more. Women should not again be asked to cede their opportunities just to make men comfortable. Now biological men want to play in women’s leagues?”
Males in female sports and their access to locker rooms and bathrooms became a hot-button issue in the 2024 election and harmed Democratic support from women.
The issue was the top priority for the American people, who are focused on the high cost of groceries and gas, Sen. Richard J. Durbin, Illinois Democrat, said at the hearing.
American parents are grappling with social media and cellphone addiction among children, a harm that needs more attention than trans athletes, he said.
“The issue at this hearing would not be in the top 10, maybe not even in the top 20,” Mr. Durbin said.
He called the move to exclude men who identify as women from female sports “a vendetta against a small number of the trans community.”
