A man is accused of opening fire Thursday outside a Target in the District, injuring another man who was then hospitalized.
The Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting took place in the 1500 block of New York Avenue NE about 5:30 p.m. and that when cops arrived, they found the victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, according to Washington’s WDVM-TV.
The victim was conscious when D.C. Fire and EMS took him to the hospital, according to WJLA-TV, another Washington station.

The police did not name the victim.
They are searching for the suspect, whom they described as a Black man wearing an orange construction vest and black pants and who was last seen riding an orange scooter in the direction of West Virginia Avenue NE and Okie Street NE, according to WTTG.
The store was temporarily closed after the incident.
